Clicker Puppy Training
Clicker training has quickly become a chief component in a dog trainers arsenal. There are presently thousands of trainers who regularly use this method for training. Clicker Puppy Training is one of the first significant changes in dog training since the introduction of choker chains.

Traditional dog trainers will praise animals for their good behavior, and then encourage them to repeat their exploits. While this is a quality method, it actually takes a little longer for the pet to figure out what he did to deserve all the compliments. Instead of using praise like “that’s a good boy” then giving the dog a treat. Clicker puppy training uses what’s called a clicker, then rewards the animal with a dog treat. The clicking replaces the verbal kudos, which quickly lets the dog know precisely what conduct he is getting a treat for.
Clicker puppy training is done using a device called a clicker which can be bought at most pet stores. Clickers work to teach dogs what their boundaries are and to instill in them proper doggy behavior. It works similar to leash training in that, if done properly, the leash is the extension of the owner, and will guide the animal, telling him in what direction he is suppose to go in and what direction he is not. When a dog hears the sound of a clicker, he associates the clicking with good behavior and if he continues being a good dog, he will keep getting rewarded with tasty treats.
An excellent way to introduce your dog to clicker training, is to get your pet familiar with the clicking sound. Have him stand close to you and start the clicking, each time giving him a treat. Do this for 10 or 15 minutes until he associates the clicking sound with being a good dog and getting rewarded with treats. You can then introduce other commands such as sit or speak, which he should take too pretty quickly.
A few pros of the clicker method include, being able to get a quicker response than verbal encouragement, the ability to discover the precise behavior exactly when it happens. Also, you don’t have to be right next to the dog for the clicker to work effectively.
